The Junction Community Centre

Why we did this project

In the North West of Adelaide a Children’s Playgroup room needed to replace an old reverse cycle air conditioning unit. With limited finances the group have built a new playgroup room floor and sandbox with cover. There was a opportunity to provide funds to replace the a/c unit.

What we did

Kidman Park Rotary raised funds to enable a suitable air conditioning unit to be installed and several members did the installation! As several extensions to this project, Rotarians saw that an enclosed outdoor area also required attention with a rubber compound surface for children’s safety. Also a cubby house with a small, step ladder and slide and a small swing set and see-saw would provide much-needed activities for the children 2 to 5 years old to improve motor skills.

Happy outcomes

Kidman Park Rotary is pleased to be able to help young parents, grandparents and guardians in the immediate community who are looking after under 5 year olds. This community centre, in a diverse ethnic population, is a place to come and share time, mix with other local children and allow adults to make friends towards building a happier community. The indoor room can be used throughout the year for mothers and toddlers, to meet as a group and will be of immense benefit to  current and future members of this community.
