BookMart Community Engagement

Why we did this project

This community support event is designed to connect the local community in the western suburbs with support services, local sporting and community organisations and Rotary programs. Connecting the community with services that are available is always challenging, however Covid-19 has increased the needs for individuals as well as the challenges for community organisations. This event aims to connect the two while providing a fun day for families and locals to attend.

What we did

Kidman Park Rotary sponsors this event that has stalls for organisations such as Foodbank, Unity Housing and local community/sporting groups as well as Rotary programs such as Lift the Lid on Mental Illness. The club provides an opportunity for other Rotary Clubs in the Western Suburbs who have projects relevant to the local community to connect.

To encourage attendance and a festival atmosphere, a free sausage sizzle and other food vans will be available and a variety of games and activities will be running throughout the day.

Happy outcomes

This event is held at Smith Reserve where the Rotary BookMart is located. This provides an opportunity to maintain support and connection with the community by providing resources on the day from the Kidman Park Rotary BookMart.
